Education remains one of the most powerful tools for societal transformation, and in Plateau State, one visionary initiative is taking bold steps to make it accessible to every child. “Plateau Goes to School”, founded by Ambassador Prince Odiete Daniel, popularly known as Mr. Tourism Plateau and the current Mr. Nigeria Tourism & Culture, is a movement dedicated to promoting education, peace, and development across the state’s seventeen (17) local government areas.

A Vision Rooted in Education and Development

At its core, Plateau Goes to School seeks to promote universal access to quality education and drastically reduce the number of out-of-school children in Plateau State. The initiative recognizes that education is not merely about academics—it is a pathway to peace, unity, and socio-economic growth.

Through its various programs and school-based activities, the project also promotes Edu-Tourism, a creative blend of education and tourism designed to connect pupils, teachers, and schools from different parts of the state. This interaction helps to showcase the cultural beauty of Plateau while fostering understanding and collaboration among communities.

Aims and Objectives

The mission of Plateau Goes to School is guided by clear and impactful objectives:

  1. Awareness Creation: Spreading awareness about the importance of education, especially in underserved and rural communities.
  2. Advocacy and Policy Support: Partnering with relevant stakeholders to influence and support education-friendly policies.
  3. Capacity Building: Providing resources, training, and tools that empower teachers and strengthen educational institutions.
  4. School Enrollment Campaigns: Leading drives and outreach efforts to ensure more children are enrolled and stay in school.
  5. Support for Vulnerable Groups: Offering scholarships, mentorship, and targeted assistance to children and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.
