Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, has announced the commencement of applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Substantive Registrar.
The position is expected to become vacant on 29 August 2026, and the University’s Governing Council has initiated the appointment process in line with the institution’s governing laws.

What Position Is Open at Plateau State University?
The vacant position is Substantive Registrar of Plateau State University, Bokkos.
The Registrar is a Principal Officer of the University and the successful candidate will serve as Chief Administrative Officer, Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation.
The Registrar will also serve as custodian of the University Law and Statutes.
What Are the Duties of the Registrar?
The Registrar will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the University under the Vice-Chancellor.
The office holder will also perform duties stated under the University Law and Regulations; these duties include administrative support for key organs of the University and custody of official legal records.
What Qualifications Are Required?
Applicants must possess a minimum of Second Class Lower degree in a relevant field from a recognised University.
They must also have at least 15 years of post-qualification cognate experience in administration or management and at least 12 of those years must have been spent in a University or a comparable higher education setting.
The following will also be required:
- Relevant postgraduate degree
- Membership of relevant professional bodies
- Service as Deputy Registrar for at least 3 years in a University or comparable higher education setting
- Evidence of competence in the use of computer and the internet
- Age not above 59 years by 29 August 2026
- A vision statement of not more than 500 words
- Evidence of attendance or presentation at at least two relevant seminars, as an added advantage

- Each candidate is expected to state, in not more than 500 words, a vision for the management of a 21st-century Registry Department.
The statement should also show how the candidate can assist the Vice-Chancellor in the day-to-day administration of an aspiring world-class University.
How Long Is the Tenure for the PLASU Registrar?
The tenure for all Principal Officers of the University, including the Registrar, is a single term of five years.
The successful candidate will serve for one term only.
What Salary and Service Conditions Apply?
The Registrar will be on Consolidated Salary.
Other terms and conditions of service will be as applicable to the post of Registrar in any Nigerian public University and as may be determined by the Governing Council of Plateau State University from time to time.
