On Tuesday, the Federal Government Of Nigeria in a move to break ASUU, delivered a certificate of registration to the Congress of Nigerian University Academics (CONUA), which is a breakaway section of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Dr Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment made the presentation.
This was stated in an invitation sent to reporters on Tuesday by Oshundun Olajide, Deputy Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.
The National Coordinator of CONUA, a breakaway faction of ASUU with a presence in a few federal universities, is ‘Niyi Sunmonu, a lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.
“The Honorable Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, cordially invites you to the recognition and presentation of Certificate of Registration to the Congress of Nigerian University Academics,” read the message from the Ministry of Labour (CONUA).

“Venue: Hon. Minister Conference Room, Federal Secretariat, Phase 1, Abuja.
“Time: 2:00pm

Recall that ASUU embarked on Nationwide strike since February 14th and Despite a ruling by the National Industrial Court on Sept 21, 2022, ordering universities to return to session, the University lecturers have refused to comply. Although through its lawyers, ASUU filed an appeal against the court ruling last week.
